Kirlian Camera takes its name from Kirlian photography — the technique that captures the electric aura around living bodies. The project began in 1979 in Parma, Italy, founded by Angelo Bergamini, and became the first Italian act signed to Virgin Records. In 2000 singer and composer Elena Alice Fossi joined as its central voice. Across four decades the band has moved through synthpop, electro-gothic, industrial and ambient without ever settling — more than sixty releases, a core audience in Germany and Central Europe, and a lasting refusal of the algorithm.
